Communication Coaching

Get the respect you deserve, speak so people listen, & become a pro in the greatest ROI skill in your career.

Who is communication coaching for?

This is for professionals who want to advance in their careers.

I’ve worked with people who wanted more respect in meetings and millionaire entrepreneurs creating pitch decks for their next big idea. People who were dinged because they thought too long or because they talked too fast.

We all develop a set of communication strategies and skills that meet our needs, but maybe they don’t scale to our next role in life. It’s time to learn some new ones.

If you want to have a greater impact at work, become a voice that people listen to, and feel calm, confident, and articulate when you speak, then communication coaching is for you.

My Approach

Communication comes down to three essential skills.

Body language and tone:

How you carry yourself and the subconscious messages you send with your posture and voice.

Articulation:

How clearly you structure your ideas, how you scaffold information, and the words you choose.

Presentation and framing:

How you present and frame information through stories, analogies, and association so your ideas have the most impact.

My goal is to teach you the essential principles of communication in a way that respects your communication style and personality.

I help you augment and refine your current skills and learn new ones.

How It Works

Schedule a free 1:1

In our first session we establish your goals.

Then I build a series of exercises that allow you to practice the skills you need to reach those goals.

Coaching

During sessions we go through these exercises together. They could be anything from role-playing a job interview to asking you to give short improvised presentations to help you respond quickly under pressure.

Tracking your progress

As you go through the exercises I give you feedback and guidance so you can watch your skills develop in real time.

TED Talk case study:

One of my clients was from the Czech Republic. He needed to write a TED talk in English. He and I honed his presentation together.

Then I had him practice delivering his speech multiple times. Each time we practiced a different set of skills.

For example, during one practice round we drilled body language; and during another presentation round I acted like a disputive member of the audience so he felt comfortable getting back on track if he was interrupted.

At the end of our coaching he was able to deliver his presentation with confidence.

Reviews

Dillon is much more than an communication coach; he is a friend. Together, we have built many pitches and presentations, and rehearsed interviews and meetings, so that I could feel confident in real-life conversation situations.

I am a native Czech speaker and was invited to give a TEDx talk in English. I hired Dillon to help me craft and script the English version of my speech. He worked with me to apply English vocabulary and grammar structures that were similar to my own language, which made my speech much easier to remember. In addition, he helped me practice, gave me helpful feedback, and provided useful techniques for memorizing the speech effectively. If you are giving a professional talk or presentation and need a communication coach, I highly recommend Dillon Gerrity.

Dillon is the best teacher I’ve ever had. Besides his obvious deep experience in teaching and knowing all the classic methods, Dillon constantly reinvents them with a personalized approach. I’m a really bad student, but an honest one. I don’t do my homework, so Dillon constantly comes up with tests and ways to reinforce my knowledge in real time. It’s also incredibly interesting to have conversations with him – he picks topics like no one else. It’s always something unusual, where I definitely don’t have any prepared answers. I like that he’s patient, thoughtful, and always respects my culture; all of that has made me not afraid of talking and asking questions.

A special highlight is his careful way of pointing out mistakes right during our conversation. After a few months of lessons, I’ve noticed that I correct myself now and make far fewer mistakes. I’ve become much more confident speaking, I understand better, and my vocabulary has expanded dramatically. We’re making my English more “fancy” and I think we’re doing a great job at it.

My Story:

My communication journey started when I was 16.

I realized I had almost no ability to read body language or social cues.

Other people were communicating with all of these subtle messages that I couldn’t pick up on. So I decided to fix it.

Over the next few years, I read everything I could get my hands on about body language and communication skills. This eventually led to me studying communication in college.

At university, I started developing my own theories and techniques for effective communication, networking, leadership, and presentation.

After I graduated, I became an English teacher and moved to Russia, Morocco, Thailand, and finally Portugal.

In each country, I honed my communication skills and abilities and tested them in each culture.

I then decided to start teaching all of the communication skills I had learned.

I now  help entrepreneurs, CEOs, and professionals prepare for conferences, develop their interpersonal skills, and become confident, articulate speakers.

Questions:

Can you guarantee I will walk away as a more confident communicator?
I can’t guarantee that you will never get anxious or nervous again. But I can definitely give you tools to manage stress and anxiety and to express your ideas in a clear and compelling way.

What happens if I am not satisfied with the results?
If for any reason you aren’t satisfied after booking a session you have 14 days to notify me I will fully refund you for that session. You also have 14 days after a course finishes to request a full refund.

Is this coaching only for native English speakers?
No this course is for everyone, however the skills you learn will be quite advanced so you need at least a B2 level of English.
